2013 Chardonnay Marca Trevigiana $21
From 16-year-old vines, hand harvested, this wine is partially fermented in barrel. It spends 5 months ageing on its lees and an extra two months in bottle. It displays ripe exotic fruits with a touch of nuttiness and honey.
2013 Moro ’41 Merlot/Raboso Marca Trevigiana $18
This red makes a perfect bistro wine with its red berry flavours and smooth lingering finish. Cherry, plum, and a touch of forest floor. Nicely balanced tannin and acid component from the Raboso, which is indigenous to the region.
2014 Domaine de Belle Mare Muscat Sec Pays d’Oc $20
This dry Muscat has an exotic and enticing nose. There are aromas of lychee, pineapple, and white peaches. The palate is vibrant and clean and finishes with a refreshing honeyed zing. Belle Mare is located just off the Thau Lagoon, the largest and deepest of Languedoc’s “inland seas”, an important site for the cultivation of mussels and oysters.
2013 Mas Las Cabes Cotes du Roussillon $19
Farther south towards the border with Spain is the small 15 ha estate of Mas Las Cabes owned by Jean Gardies. Varying soil types including decomposed black schists impart their character on this blend of 60% Syrah, 30% Grenache, and 10% Mourvedre. Violet, licorice, and olive notes lead into a fresh and fruity wine that is both vibrant and complex.
2014 Campos Reales Sauvignon Blanc/Airen La Mancha $17
A crisp, clean white that is smooth and persistent, boasting citrus, orange zest and green apple flavours, with a hint of grassiness. 50/50 blend.
2014 Campos Reales ‘Canforrales’ Tempranillo La Mancha $19
100% Tempranillo all hand harvested. Red fruit aromas and flavours of strawberries and blackberries, balanced acidity, and smooth, silky tannins.
